The IALEIA Emerging Professionals Group (EPG) is hereby inviting you to another Lunch ‘N Learn Webinar scheduled for Tuesday September 17, 2024 at 10 AM EST / 11 AM CST. The topic for this webinar is “The Analyst as the Diplomat” presented by Emily Crowne.

Emily Crowne is an accredited Intelligence Analyst, who initially qualified for the role at her local Police force, Hertfordshire Constabulary, in 2019. Here, she worked predominantly on intelligence development and investigations in the Serious Organised Crime (SOC) arena.

Since 2021, she has worked as a tactical Intelligence Analyst at the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA), within both the Tactical Intelligence Analysis Team (TIAT) and Target Discovery and Development Team (TDDT). This has seen her provide intelligence analysis within a number of highest of high harm SOC threat areas, including child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), drug trafficking, complex fraud and kleptocracy.

Until August of this year, Emily was deployed internationally to the Maritime Analysis and Operations Centre for Narcotics (MAOC-N), an EU intelligence sharing and co-ordination centre based in Lisbon, Portugal tackling transatlantic maritime drug smuggling. Here, she represented the UK, working collaboratively with European and international partners, including the US DEA and JIATF-S, providing high-level intelligence fusion and analysis, and has formed the blueprint for the deployment of further NCA Intelligence Analysts to diplomatic posts internationally.

The ‘Analyst as The Diplomat’ will provide a case study on how to scope and establish a new analytical role, discussing themes of best practice, continuous professional development, upskilling analysts in an international environment, and focus throughout on how to advocate for yourself within a threat area tackling the highest of high harm SOC. Having progressed from a local to international level, Emily will discuss how, as an Analyst, if you’re prepared to flex, be bold, and step out of your comfort zone, the opportunities are  professionally and personally satisfying.
